Passports and Visas
Obviously need them on your person for travel. Have a photo on your phone as well. Need a tourist visa for China but nothing for Japan.
Phones and wifi
Our Verizon phones can use intl plan 12 dollars a day unlimited. Should give you acecss to Intl roaming which will let you use most social media. Not sure what Monica and Conor have but I think all major carriers have this. There are cheaper ways to do this but this seems to be easiest.
We will definitely want access to a VPN for wifi. They call it the Great Firewall over there and you can't get on things like Google without it. Kobe if you have sensitive information leave it at home.
Laundry
I'm guessing shoot for a weeks worth of clothes and we just let the hotels take care of things. Expensive but all we have to do is make more putts. I know the Kyoto hotel has a washer and dryer.
apps
Some of the redit threads say to dowload wechat didi and and alipay. They say it is mostly for paying and scheduling rides. A lot of our stuff will be scheduled in advance so Im not sure it will be necessary. I know uber operates in japan but not in china. More investigation is necessary.
